Finally, after much excitement the day came for Be Natural’s very first fashion show, debuting the incredible ‘Indigo, Ecru and White’ Collection at Place Notre Dame Anduze on the 16th of June.
The sun was shining and friends, creatives and familiar faces joined to watch and take part in the show.
The organic collection comprises of pieces for men and women, all made with love from start to finish.
The cotton is grown from our 25 organic cotton farmers in the state of Gujarat, in Western India. These farmers grow and produce cotton using 60% less water than non-organic cotton! Unfortunately, in 2016 only 1% of the world’s cotton was grown organically. This collection and our work as an ethical business is all part of the aim to help change this, by increasing the demand for organic cotton and raising awareness of it. We’re here to help the planet.
The cotton is then smoothed and woven by hand or using machines that are powered by solar energy. This means that the beautiful clothes you see here were created using almost zero emissions! How incredible is that!
After the weaving process comes the dying process. Our friends and artisans dye the fabrics by hand, using raw and natural dyes and tints. These non toxic methods and colourings are what bring the fabulous tones to the garments. The clothes are then hand sewn by the skilled women of the Gujarat villages. Did you know that each of these producers set the value of their work themselves? Zero exploitation.
The show was a chance to showcase the work of these hardworking people and the vision of Be Natural.
By joining the sustainable fashion movement, and becoming a conscious consumer, you are not only helping to save the planet but also helping to change the lives of the talented craftsmen and women who help form our collections.
The Indigo, Ecru & White collection is just one of many exciting projects, and we hope you join our slow fashion journey to see what else is to come.
